What Does Squalene Do?

What Does Squalene Do?

shark - a source of squalene Squalene (also known as shark liver oil) is a naturally occurring compound that appears in a wide variety of plants and animals. In humans and animals, it is produced by the liver. It is used mainly in cosmetics and some medications, including health supplements.

There are quite a few noted benefits, we have outlined a few below.

  • May also reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease.
  • Can help boost your immune system and protect you from sickness.
  • Help fight illnesses such as asthma, arthritis, and psoriasis.
  • Is known to speed the healing process of wounds.
  • Studies have shown squalene to reduce the growth of blood vessels in tumours. This applies to breast, colon, and prostate cancer.
  • Squalene may reduce the severity of the side effects of chemotherapy.
  • Consumption may also reduce the risk of heart attacks, irregular heart rhythms, and high blood pressure.

People generally think of fats as a bad thing to have in their diet, but some fats, including squalene, are very healthy for you. Fats are a great source of energy. They help your body absorb fat-soluble vitamins, help you keep healthy skin, and supply important fatty acids.  Of course, there are certain types of fats to avoid. The include trans fats, and saturated fats (although you do need a certain amount of saturated fats – just not too much). Beneficial fats include monounsaturated, polyunsaturated omega fatty acids, and squalene.

This is just a small snapshot of what squalene can do to aid you in keeping good health. Why not check out our squalene health benefits page, solely dedicated to this fantastic product. As always, if you have any question, you can contact us at any time.

The Difference Between Vegetarian and Vegan

The Difference Between Vegetarian and Vegan

fresh vegetables in crates For multiple reasons, vegans have been making the news recently after an event that involved protesting in restaurants. While this is definitely one way of getting your message across, it hasn’t been an overwhelmingly positive one.

The question that is often asked is; “What is the difference between being vegetarian and being vegan?” Nature’s Naturals decided we would explain the difference.

Vegetarianism is the absence of meat and some/all animal by-products. There are three branches of vegetarianism.

Lacto-ovo vegetarians do not eat meat, but will eat animal products such as eggs and dairy. Ovo-vegetarians (eggs, no dairy) or lacto-vegetarians (dairy, no eggs) are another branch. Then there is vegan, which is the absence of all animal and animal by-products at all, and is the most extreme form of vegetarianism.

Another question that arises is how people who follow a vegetarian lifestyle get all the nutrients their bodies require to function. Amazingly, there are many plant-based products that supply all essential vitamins and minerals. In the event they can’t be consumed, supplements may be required. Nature’s Naturals stock a wide range of supplements to aid you in maintaining your good health. As always, we are here to answer any questions you might have!

How Can Supplements Help Me?

If you lead a busy life and find it hard to take the time to shop for the right foods and maintain a balanced diet, supplements could help restore the right balance for you. It must be remembered that a healthy balanced diet and exercise is the key to good health, and supplements are there as a backup in case you’re lacking in any key vitamins and minerals.

Vegetarians and Vegans

If you are vegan or vegetarian, you should consume a lot of green leafy vegetables like kale and spinach – this will help you keep your iron levels up. You can also take iron supplements if you haven’t managed to get enough greens.

Protein is another concern – if you’re vegetarian you can rely on dairy products like milk, cheese, and yoghurt, not to mention things like our goats milk tablets or our protein powder. If you’re vegan it’s harder and you’ll have to rely on things like nuts, beans, and mushrooms.

Other Healthy Products

There are other health products we offer that can help anyone. Our propolis can help strengthen your immune system, and reduce inflammation. Natures Naturals olive leaf throat spray made with real olive leaf extract has a number of health benefits. It can also keep your immune system strong, as well as keep your circulatory system and heart healthy. It can also lower blood pressure. It comes with the added benefit of probiotics, and gut health is key to wellbeing.

Omega 3

Another thing a lot of people don’t get enough of is omega 3. To be precise, it’s actually a balance of omega 3, 6, and 9 you need, as there is a lot of omega 3 in oils which people regularly consume. You can get it from fish oil tablets, or the vegetarian option, flaxseed oil. Omega 3 is another good one for heart health, and it’s also good for your brain, and may help keep brain shrinkage at bay, which can lead to dementia and other brain illnesses.

Once again, we stress that a healthy diet and lifestyle is the main thing, but you can also add some healthy supplements to help you stay balanced during busy times in your life.

Sheep Placenta Capsules

What is a Placenta?

The organ that links the mother to the foetus is called the placenta. It occurs throughout the mammal species. It transfers nutrients and oxygen to the foetus and foetal waste products to the mother. It is common for many species of mammal to consume the placenta after birth. Humans from various cultures also undertake this practice, for nutrition and cultural reasons. Search and rescue teams also use placentas to train their dogs when searching for human remains. Culturally, the placenta frequently holds an important role. There is a range of rituals undertaken to dispose of it. In the west, it is most commonly incinerated. Some other cultures bury the placenta for different reasons. Such as the Maoris of New Zealand – it is buried to place emphasis on our relationship with the earth. The Navajo Indians bury the placenta along with the umbilical cord at a specific site, especially if the baby dies during birth. In Costa Rica and Cambodia, the health of the baby and the mother is thought to be ensured by burying the placenta.

What is it Used For?

A range of consumer products utilise human or animal placenta extract. For example, food products, health tonics, hair care products, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. Hair and skin products that contain extract of animal placenta are sold by some corporations. Sheep placenta is most commonly used. In cosmetics, it may be a source of hormones and protein, mainly progesterone and estrogen. For this reason it is not recommended for children. Melsmon Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd manufactures pharmaceutical grade human placenta extract, for the treatment of menopause. Another placenta extract preparation, LAENNNEC, is prescribed to treat chronic hepatitis. Some patients receive direct injections of placenta tissue. A range of foods use placenta as an ingredient, for example the apple flavoured Placenta Drink from Plantec Co. Ltd in Japan. According to Plantec, it uses raw placenta material and activates the metabolism.

Here at Nature’s Naturals, we stock sheep placenta capsules.
