Two almost-essential ingredients are garlic and onions. Known for their benefits as natural antibiotics, even inhaling them while cooking can help blocked sinuses. Garlic especially is anti-fungal and may help in lowering cholesterol.

Another excellent natural antibiotic is ginger. It is especially good for sore throats and aiding in digestive upsets.

The main base for any soup is vegetables. The more variance in colours, the more health benefits you’ll gain from it. Carrots, celery, mushrooms, potato, sweet potato, tomato…the list goes on. Adding herbs can also provide a flavour boost as well as many other health benefits.

Alternate Uses For Honey

Alternate Uses For Honey

Bees are amazing, they really are. The hives produce honey to eat and beeswax/honeycomb for cosmetic use. They also provide propolis. Bee propolis is also well-known for it’s fantastic healing and immune-boosting properties. You can find out more about this by clicking on propolis information.

Today’s article is focused on honey and the many alternate uses it has apart from being eaten. Like propolis, the honey itself is known for its beneficial properties. Honey can also have many other uses, including medicinal, cosmetic and healing. The team at Nature’s Naturals thought we’d outline a few for you.

Make your Own Lip Balm

By mixing honey, beeswax and almond oil together and setting it in a small pot, you will have a long-lasting, tasty lip balm.

Hair conditioner

After shampooing your hair, put some honey on the ends and leave for 5 minutes. Rinse out with warm water for soft, silky hair.

Add to Tea

Adding a spoonful of honey to your tea will sweeten it up without the need for sugar.  Honey tea is excellent for a sore throat if lemon is added too.

Make a Facial Mask

Mixing honey with ground nut shells and lemon juice will make a natural exfoliating face scrub. It will soften your skin and cleanse it as well.

Add to an Alcoholic Beverage

Add honey to a gin or vodka cocktail with soda will give it a hint of flavour.

Put on Scrapes or Cuts

The anti-bacterial properties of honey will assist in healing minor wounds and abrasions.

Add to a Fruit Salad

Drizzling honey over fresh fruit will make a delicious, sweet dressing. You can also add yoghurt.

Use as a Moisturiser

Mixing honey with herbs will make a beautiful scented moisturiser for your skin.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this information on other uses for honey.

Sunscreen Warning – Have You Used This Brand?

Sunscreen Warning – Have You Used This Brand?

Everybody wants to have fun in the sun! It is so important to make sure any skin exposed to the harsh rays of the sun is protected. A water-resistant, SPF50 sunscreen applied every 2 hours is considered the ideal way to do this. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, sometimes things go wrong. Recently a family experienced this when their young baby received chemical burns from a popular brand of sunscreen. This sunscreen is specifically formulated for young children. The link to that story is here. What is more of a worry is that this is not the first incident that has occurred with this sunscreen.

The team at Nature’s Naturals urges you to make sure to cover up when you are in direct sunlight. A hat and sunglasses are also essential sun wear. Don’t forget to use a reputable sunscreen and at any sign of burning, make sure you get out of the sun as soon as possible.
